Jackson Square in French Quarter, New Orleans Photos

Jackson Square (originally the Place d'Armes) was in created 1721 by Adrien de Pauger is the heart of New Orlean's French Quarter. The Square contains an equestrian statue of the hero of the Battle of New Orleans, Andrew Jackson, created in 1815 by Clark Mills. An elaborate cast iron fence, upon which local artists display their paintings, surrounds the square's formal gardens. The square itself is defined by the Mississippi River, the Cathedral plus neoclassical structures like the Cabildo, the Presbytère, & Pontalba Buildings.
