USS Constitution, Boston Photos

The USS Constitution (1794), also called Old Ironsides, is a 44-gun frigate designed by Joshua Humphreys & Josiah Fox. She fought pirates off the Barbary Coast in the Tripolitan War, the British in the War of 1812 & other battles. Championed by Oliver Wendell Holmes, the ship was saved for posterity & is the only sailing ship still active in the US Navy's roster. Other naval ships & historic objects are also displayed at the Charlestown Navy Yard.
