President Rutherford B. Hayes Mansion, Fremont, OH Photos

The President Rutherford B. Hayes Presidential Center museum sits beside his 31-room Mansion called Spiegel Grove. Notably the complex is surrounded by an iron fence with gates from the White House, taken in an era when Presidents could retire with contents. The core of the house dates from 1859-63 with major additions made by Hayes in 1880 including his library. Hayes died here in 1893. Hayes was 19th President 1877-81.
