San Jacinto Monument Photos

San Jacinto was the final battle for Texas independence where forces under General Sam Houston defeated Mexican troops under Mexican president Antonio López de Santa Anna on April 21, 1836. Houston did the unexpected by attacking in the afternoon while Santa Anna was taking a Siesta. Mexico lost 630 dead to Texas' nine in a 16 minute battle.
