Tin Figures Photos

Flat Tin Figures constitute a Germanic art form. An artist splits a thin piece of slate & carves the front of the figure on one of the facing split surfaces and then the figure's back on the facing surface. In some cases a stand in carved on the edge where the slate came together. The facing slates is fixed together & tin is then poured into the cavity. The resulting casting is usually painted on both sides or sometimes left unpainted.
