Ulm Sparrows Photos

Ulm Sparrows have been associated with Ulm for centuries but the connection became widely known after townspeople, in the late 1800's, adopted a story about sparrows assisting in the building of the Ulm Münster. When workers were confronted with a cart loaded crosswise with beams and therefore too wide to get through the city gate. The story says the workers realized the solution when a sparrow turned a straw sideways to get it into its nest. There are at least 50 whimsical & colorful sparrow statues in Ulm.
