Art of Byzantium Photos

The Christian Byzantine Empire arose from the ruins of the Eastern half of the Roman Empire and was governed from Constantinople. As the Islamic Ottoman Empire overran Byzantium lands, Christian and Roman themes disappeared from the regional art.
