Candle stands Photos

In order to read or work by candlelight, the flame should be close and at the right height. Furniture to hold candles ranged from custom designed pieces where the candlestick could be screwed to a higher level as the candle burned shorter. Other households used less elaborate candle stands which were small diameter tables, usually sitting on tripod legs so the candles did not wobble and tip.
