Jacquard Loom Photos

Whiles looms have been used to manually weave cloth since antique times, a major jump in technology transpired in 1804 when Joseph Marie Jacquard invented a loom based on programmable punch cards. Jacquard built on earlier inventions by the Frenchmen Basile Bouchon (1725), Jean Baptiste Falcon (1728) & Jacques Vaucanson (1740).
