Roman Empire Carved Sculptures Photos

Figural sculptures on this page cover Roman empire works which are not known to be copies of earlier Greek originals. Such copies of Greek works are included on our Ancient Greek Sculptures page. After Rome conquered Greece in 146 BCE, Rome adopted Greek sculpture & imported Greek works. Further confusing the line between Roman & Greek sculpture is the fact that Greeks had colonized what is now southern Italy.
