St James Less, Apostle Photos

St James the Less Apostle (aka Minor, Lesser or Younger) (Martyred 62CE) may have been the head of the very early Church in Jerusalem and seems to have wielded considerable authority in Church matters. He proposed that only four Jewish practices be imposed on Gentiles wishing to become Christian. James was martyred by being thrown from the pinnacle of the Temple in Jerusalem by the Pharisees and then stoned to death.

Attrib. Fuller's Club (used for pounding of woollen cloth).
