Wedgwood Creamware & Queen's Ware (1760s on) Photos

Creamware (which is not porcelain) was made in Stoke pottery shops (1740s) even before Josiah Wedgwood set up his firm (1759). What Wedgwood did was 1) experimentally improve his creamware (1763); 2) contract for a Liverpool transfer-printing shop to exclusively print his pieces (1761); 3) develop new Creamware shapes and marketing techniques. After Queen Charlotte (wife of King George III) bought a set from his shop (1765), Wedgwood renamed its Creamware to 'Queen's Ware' gaining it further sales.
