Dumbarton Castle, Glasgow Photos

Dumbarton Castle on the Rock of the Clyde (Alt Clut) controls access to River Clyde and therefore was an important defensive point, fort and prison since ancient times. The entrance building of note is the Governor's House (1735) built for John, 8th Earl of Cassilis. This museum site is run by Historic Scotland (HES).
