Queen Victoria & Prince Albert Photos

Ruled Great Britain 20 June 1837 - 22 January 1901. Queen Victoria came to the throne at Age 18 after her uncle, King William IV, died without any legitimate children still living. Less than two years later, she married Prince Albert of Saxe-Coburg & Gotha. That union had a profound influence both on Victoria and on the 19thC history of Britain. Sadly, Albert, whom she loved deeply, died at Age 42 and Victoria mourned him for the rest of her long life. During the Victorian Age, Britain reached the height of its expansion as a Colonial power, symbolized by the proclamation of Victoria as Empress of India. Albert masterminded the Great Exhibition (aka the Crystal Palace), a historic success, which showcased British industrial strength and innovation.
