Bristol Cathedral, Bristol, England Photos

Bristol Cathedral (11thC but much changed over time) is particularly noted for its vaulting, historic organ & stained glass, much of which was destroyed during WWII. What is now Bristol Cathedral was founded as an Augustinian monastery (12thC) but after the Dissolution of Monasteries (16thC) became Church of England & seat of the Bishop of Bristol. The Cathedral was re-built (19thC) in the neo-gothic style by architects George Edmund Street & John Longborough, the latter known for his revival of the art of vaulting.
