STEAM Railway Museum, Swindon England Photos

STEAM aka Museum of Great Western Railway (GWR) is set in restored railway buildings at the heart of the former GWR Swindon Railway Works & tells the history (1846-1986) of what was once one of the largest manufacturers of locomotives in the world. Featured is Isambard Kingdom Brunel, the famous Victorian engineer, who masterminded the construction of the Great Western Railway & brought the Railway Works to Swindon in the early 1840's. Exhibits include: locomotives, the majority of which are part of the UK National Collection; many displays related to the Railway Works production & workers as well as posters & other artifacts related to the history of the GWR itself.
