National World War II Museum, New Orleans Photos

The National World War II Museum started as the National D-Day Museum, but was upgraded through an act of Congress. The museum still centers on D-Day, the most significant of actions in that war. New Orleans played a key role in D-Day in that it was here that the landing craft were manufactured by inventor Andrew Higgins & his companies. In terms of numbers, the landing craft made up the largest segment of the US Navy. The WW II Museum adjoins Lee Circle along with several others.
